Extensions of the new coverage product include business interruption without damage, denial of access and loss of attraction.
In addition to the new product launch, Rokstone has appointed Rebecca Steel (pictured), Portfolio Manager, Political Violence and Terrorism, to lead its Politics and International Terrorism division. Steel joined Rokstone in February this year and brings with her over 32 years of experience specializing in underwriting political violence and terrorism risks in the UK and US. She spent 14 years with AXA Re, and another eight years with Aon in the United States. Steel had also been vice president of Cooper Gay NYC, later becoming head of real estate and terrorism for Omnyy (a subsidiary of Lockton), then a senior underwriter for terrorism at Ensurance.
âPolitical violence and terrorism are an ongoing daily threat and brokers have a responsibility to educate their clients about the risks and the protection available. Compared to other countries, the UK has a very high risk profile, higher than that of Russia for example. And it’s not just ISIS; right-wing activism is one of the biggest risks in the UK right now, âSteel commented. âAt Rokstone, we have created multi-layered products that address the most relevant risks. Targets don’t have to be unique to travel centers, large hotels, or national monuments, and it’s not just property risks and business losses – our policies also protect people in unique ways, including focusing on rehabilitation. Our specialized knowledge, our use of technology and our approach to underwriting allow us to offer broader, more relevant, more competitive and faster to secure coverage.
âWe are delighted to launch this new facility. Terrorism and political violence are threats that continue to permeate our society at all levels, and it is a global challenge that brokers can help their clients navigate, âadded Dean Pitts, Director of Underwriting at Rokstone .
Pitts also said that Rokstone is delighted that Steel has joined the team, as she is “one of the largest and most experienced underwriters” in the field of terrorism.
