Ed Bermuda appoints Marsh’s Juul as head of emergencies; Mosaic Hires Jones from Specialty Liberty Markets; BHSI promotes 2 for UK and Europe

Ed Bermuda appoints Marsh’s Juul as head of emergency

Ed, the London-based wholesale and specialist reinsurance broker, has announced the appointment of Kristina juul as leader of the wounded, Bermuda. She will report to Colin Kelley, Responsibility Manager Ed Broking Bermuda.

Juul, who will join on November 1, brings with her over 13 years of industry experience and has held leadership roles in the Bermuda and London markets. Most recently, she was Senior Vice President, Bermuda, at Marsh. Previously, Juul was Division Manager, Accident at BMS, specializing in energy.

A leading Lloyd’s broker, Ed is currently part of the insurance business of BGC Partners and is expected to join The Ardonagh Group as part of its acquisition announced in May 2021 (subject to regulatory approval). Ardonagh Group is the UK’s largest independent brokerage group and one of the top 20 brokers in the world.


Mosaic hires Jones from Specialized freedom markets to lead product development

Specialized underwriter Liam jones joined Mosaic Insurance focus on the startup’s overall product innovation and insurance strategy.

Based in London, Jones is senior vice president, responsible for business development. He reports to the co-founder and co-CEO of Mosaic Mark Wheeler and is part of the management team. The role covers a broad mandate which will see him leading the business to improve existing coverage and address emerging exposures through the evolution of new products in the company’s specialty lines. He will lead a strong integration between underwriting and technology, working closely with all product units to enhance Mosaic’s pioneering insurtech platform.

With 15 years of experience in the global specialty underwriting industry, Jones has worked in the Lloyd’s, US and Bermuda markets. Previously, he was responsible for underwriting strategy for Liberty Specialty Markets, where he also headed the financial lines, healthcare and special risks divisions. He is a mentor at the Lloyd’s Lab incubator and holds advisory board positions in several insurance companies.

Mosaic combines Lloyd’s Syndicate 1609 with a wholly owned syndicated capital management agency, enabling the company to identify, research and underwrite business on its own behalf and that of its business partners. Its six selected product lines launched to date include coverage for transactional liability, cybersecurity, political risk, political violence, financial institutions and professional liability.


BHSI promotes Browne and Maxwell to leadership positions in UK and Europe

Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) announced to have promoted Hilary browne the additional role of regional executive, UK and Europe, and Vanessa Maxwell additional role of Country Manager, UK.

Browne will work closely with Chris Colahan, Head of UK & Europe, serving as Deputy Head of BHSI UK & Europe, leading portfolio level underwriting initiatives and business development in the region. She will continue to serve as Accident Manager for Europe and Country Manager for Ireland as she takes on the newly created role of Regional Executive for UK and Europe. Browne joined BHSI in 2019 and has over 20 years of experience in the insurance industry.

As Country Director, Maxwell will lead the underwriting, claims and engagement of BHSI clients and brokers in the UK. She joined BHSI in 2017 as Head of Professional Compensation and Cyber ​​Liability and became Head of Executive and Professional Lines, UK, in 2019. She will retain this role with her new role.
